Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a Lead Infection Prevention and Control Nurse to join the IPC Team. You will lead on infection prevention and control across a designated sector, working with the Corporate Nursing Team to ensure safe environments and governance across NHSGGC services.

You will provide expert IPC clinical leadership, contribute to education programmes, and support policy development with a focus on reducing health care-associated infections.

Qualifications

• Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Diploma in Infection Prevention and Control.
• Masters degree is desirable.
• Extensive experience of healthcare-associated infection (HAI).
• Evidence of CPD within HAI.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Skilled leadership, including negotiating and influencing.
• Autonomous working with independent clinical judgements.
• Ability to prioritise concurrent and competing issues.

Responsibilities

• Lead on prevention and control of infection within NHSGGC.
• Contribute to policy development and implementation of IPC standards.
• Monitor, surveil, investigate and manage infections across services.
• Develop and deliver IPC education for health and social care staff.
• Provide expert advice and leadership in healthcare-associated infection (HAI).
