Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a Lead Infection Prevention and Control Nurse to join the IPC Team. The role provides senior clinical expertise to prevent infections and to drive quality across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde services.

Qualifications

• Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Diploma in Infection Prevention and Control is required.
• Masters level degree is desirable.
• Extensive experience of healthcare-associated infection (HAI).
• Evidence of continuing professional and clinical development within HAI.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Skilled leadership including negotiating and influencing.
• High level IT competence.
• Teaching experience including in higher academic institutions.
• Ability to work autonomously and make independent clinical judgements.
• Ability to prioritise concurrent issues.
• Experience of working across organisational and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Lead on prevention and control of infection across a designated sector.
• Contribute to policy development and standard implementation for IPC.
• Develop and deliver IPC education programmes for health and social care staff.
• Provide expert advice and leadership in healthcare-associated infection control.
• Support quality improvement across services in partnership with other teams.
