Job summary

LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) is seeking a Senior Support Engineer specialized in SQL to lead production support for critical systems within the FTSE Engineering team. You will diagnose and resolve complex database issues across SQL Server, Sybase, and PostgreSQL, collaborating with developers, product owners, and analysts on data-intensive workflows.

The role emphasizes 3rd-line support, cloud familiarity (AWS/Azure), and strong SQL/C#.NET skills to ensure high availability and performance

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years of solid experience in database application support across multiple databases (SQL Server, Sybase, PostgreSQL).
• Extensive experience providing 3rd line support, including diagnosing, solving, and resolving complex technical issues related to database systems and integrations.
• Experience working with data-intensive applications and large datasets.
• Strong SQL skills: debugging queries, stored procedures, triggers, scripts, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in C#.NET and application development to support database operations.
• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS or Azure) for hosting and managing databases.
• Excellent verbal and written communication for collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise day-to-day production support of critical systems.
• Diagnose, solve, and resolve high-complexity issues beyond first/second line support.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to understand workflows and data interactions in the Index lifecycle.
• Manage incidents, ensure high availability and performance of database environments.
• Work with AWS/Azure cloud resources for database hosting and scaling.
