Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Independent Safety Assessment Engineer to deliver Independent Safety Assessment activities (AsBo/ISA) across major rail projects in the UK, including EN standards and CSM-REA frameworks. The role involves leading safety assurance, engaging with clients and approval authorities, and supporting bids and budgets.

Qualifications

• Experience applying Independent Safety Assessments as AsBo/ISA to rail projects.
• Knowledge of EN ISO17020 and EN standards relevant to rail safety.
• Experience with RAM, HAZID/HAZOP/FTA methods.
• Familiar with railway standards and TSIs/RIS/RGS.
• Ability to engage stakeholders and support bids.

Responsibilities

• Act as Lead Independent Safety Assessor for AsBo and ISA delivery across multiple projects.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to shape and deliver safety assurance.
• Engage stakeholders and present safety assessments to authorities.
• Develop assurance strategies/plans and prepare Safety Assessment Reports.
• Support bid writing and pricing for new work.
• Manage programmes and budgets for project delivery.
• Maintain professional qualifications and promote an inclusive culture.
• Align processes across the business and drive innovation.
