Job summary

Arup is seeking a Senior Consultant in Safety Risk and Reliability to lead safety assurance workstreams on rail projects. You will manage tasks, run hazard analyses and drive safety case development across the rail value chain.

The role encompasses coordinating with ISA/AsBo and addressing evolving technologies such as decarbonisation and digitalisation. The successful candidate will bring Chartered Engineer status, deep rail safety experience and the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams

Qualifications

Chartered Engineer with membership of a relevant professional institution.
Strong experience leading safety and risk assessment programmes (qualitative and quantitative) in rail.
Knowledge of UK/European railway legislation and standards (ROGS, CSM RA, NTSNs, TSIs, EN 50126/50129).
Experience with safety analysis techniques such as HAZID, HAZOP, FMECA, FTA; development of safety cases.

Responsibilities

Lead delivery of defined safety assurance tasks, work packages or small projects, managing outputs to time, cost and quality.
Deliver system safety activities including hazard identification and risk assessment (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, FMECA, FTA).
Chair and facilitate safety workshops with clients, partners and technical specialists.
Coordinate and implement safety and risk engineering activities, including safety case and safety justification development and safety management systems.
Support clients as they adopt new or evolving technologies, including decarbonisation and digitalisation.
Work with Independent Safety Assessors / Assessment Bodies (ISA / AsBo) to support safety evidence and responses.
