Job Opportunity – Senior Income Management Officer – Income Team

Hours: 37 Hours per week

Salary: Grade 8 (£34,314.00 - £37,035.00)

Location: St James Road, Dudley

Directorate/Service area: Housing & Communities, Income Team

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Income Management Officer within the Income team. We are passionate about providing excellent customer service to Dudley MBC customers and delivering high performance, including monthly reductions in rent arrears collection rates during challenging financial times. This role involves maximising income, debt recovery, and providing support, advice, information, and guidance to customers to help avoid financial difficulties. The post holder will also handle key tasks such as Court work, complex cases, Use & Occupation accounts, Former Tenancy Arrears, Projects, Prisoners, and Deceased accounts.

Key requirements:
  1. Contribute to and develop practical rent recovery processes.
  2. Manage staff as required to promote efficient service operation.
  3. Undertake research and support policy development and service improvements.
  4. Possess strong financial literacy and understanding of income management processes.
  5. Work effectively with residents, especially those facing financial difficulties.
  6. Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Have knowledge of welfare benefits systems and relevant legislation.
  8. Develop systems, processes, and procedures to maximise income and service efficiency.
  9. Produce statistical data and performance reports to promote effective performance management.
  10. Represent Dudley council at court for possession proceedings.
  11. Plan, monitor, and report on service improvement projects, highlighting risks and issues.
  12. Experience with NEC housing system and ability to interpret and train others on software developments.
  13. Carry out home visits to engage with customers and assist in debt resolution.
  14. Respond to enquiries from internal and external customers via various communication methods.
  15. Work flexibly, including outside normal hours, to meet service needs.
  16. Support safeguarding procedures to ensure customer safety and well-being.
