Job summary

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a Senior ICT Technician to oversee operation, maintenance and security of our LAN/WAN and related network services. The role involves hands-on troubleshooting, mentoring ICT staff and contributing to project work.

The post is based at HIWFRS HQ, Eastleigh with hybrid working. It requires experience in ICT technical support and strong problem-solving abilities, plus a commitment to documentation and service resilience.

Qualifications

Experience in ICT technical support environment.
Structured, methodical approach to problem-solving.
Able to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

Provide senior technical oversight for operation, monitoring and maintenance of LAN, WAN, wireless, firewall, VPN, DNS, DHCP and related services.
Investigate complex network faults and incidents, acting as senior escalation point.
Coordinate routine maintenance, firmware upgrades, patching, hardware refresh and network changes.
Support secure configuration, performance, capacity, availability and resilience with cyber security colleagues.
Maintain configuration records, diagrams, procedures, runbooks and recovery docs.
Contribute expertise to projects and mentor ICT colleagues.
Participate in 24-hour operational support including occasional out-of-hours work.
