Job summary

GE Vernova, Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineer for HVDC Control System, Platform & Tools to join the HVDC NPI team. The role centers on driving innovation across embedded systems, software platforms, and network architectures to support next-generation HVDC systems.

You will provide technical authority, lead complex engineering initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to strengthen design quality and capability development across the HVDC organisation.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering, physics, math, CS or related field.
• Hands-on embedded software, desktop apps, web apps, communications, or cybersecurity tech.
• Expert in software development processes including Agile.
• Experience as technical lead for NPI programs.
• Strong OS knowledge: VxWorks, RT Linux, QNX, Linux/Unix/Windows.
• Industrial protocols: IEC-61850, IEC-104, DNP3, Modbus.
• Know ISO OSI model and network layers.
• Knowledge of processors, DSPs, FPGAs, SoCs; backplanes PCIe/VPX/SOSA.
• Understanding of industrial network and cyber architectures.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical authority to NPI teams across embedded software, IEC-61850 PC-based apps, full stack web apps, and networks.
• Participate in design reviews for components and tender deliverables.
• Identify, develop, evaluate, and introduce engineering solutions for business needs.
• Provide technical direction to projects and support product, supplier, manufacturing, and field issues.
• Guide teams on specification, design, architecture, testing, and docs.
• Develop design guides and support FMEAs, RCA, 5-Why, 8-D in NPI development.
• Represent GE Vernova in conferences and customer engagements as needed.
• Support training, lessons learned, and capability development across HVDC.
• Collaborate with ITO/OTR/Technology/Consulting Engineers to improve design quality.
