Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in the UK seeks a Senior HV Plant Engineer to lead substation engineering deliverables and act as a senior technical authority on projects from 11kV to 400kV. You will mentor engineers, drive safety by design, and contribute to the Substations Section's growth across the UK.

The role requires a Chartered Engineer with active professional membership and a proven track record in inspection, design, and delivery for transmission and distribution assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of substation engineering design experience in electricity transmission and distribution.
• Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council; membership in a recognized professional institution (IET, CIGRE, IEC, IEEE).

Responsibilities

• Lead substation engineering deliverables in the UK, coordinating with the Substations Section Manager.
• Lead technical role on substation design for projects from 11kV to 400kV, including Lead Project Engineer duties.
• Produce detailed design packages compliant with ENA/BS/IEC/IEEE and related standards.
• Undertake FEED consultancy, producing technical reports and presentations.
• Maintain CDM compliance and implement safety by design across projects.
