Job summary

AtkinsRéalis UK Limited is hiring a Principal Engineer in the HV Electrical Engineering group, based at a Birmingham office with hybrid office/client work. You will lead a high-performing engineering team, drive FEED and detailed design efforts for transmission projects, and ensure technical integrity and compliant bid submissions.

You will build trusted relationships with clients, manage interfaces with subcontractors, and mentor engineers while supporting recruitment and professional

Qualifications

• Experience in managing technical teams.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer status or in progress.
• Proven track record in substations design (UK or abroad).
• Experience preparing FEED and detailed design bids.

Responsibilities

• Lead and line-manage a team of engineers, supporting recruitment and development.
• Lead FEED and detailed design workstreams for HV substations.
• Oversee quality and design reviews of HV plant aspects.
• Coordinate interfaces with back-office, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Manage tender processes for HV plant packages.
• Chair design/hazard reviews; engage in site visits and FAT/SAT as needed.
• Grow client relationships and contribute to business development.
