Job summary

Equans is seeking a Senior Secondary & Protection Control Engineer to join our Energy Solutions team in Bristol. You will own the secondary systems design for HV grid connections, including protection schemes, settings, SCADA/RTU, and metering, ensuring compliance with G99 and DNO policies for 11–33kV and 132kV projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Power Engineering.
• 5+ years experience in protection and control design or commissioning at distribution voltages.
• Hands-on experience with relay settings and grading studies.

Responsibilities

• Own the secondary systems design for HV grid connections: protection schemes and settings, control and interlocking, SCADA/RTU and metering.
• Ensure designs meet DNO/IDNO protection policy and G99 requirements for 11–33kV (extending to 132kV).
• Select and grade protection schemes, coordinate relay settings with fault level studies and equipment ratings.
• Resolve scheme design, settings and testing issues across packages; escalate to Principal Engineer Design Assurance and Head of Design & Engineering.
