Job summary

Port of Dover is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer (Utilities) to own and maintain our 11kV HV and LV electrical infrastructure, ensuring safe, compliant operation across our critical port operations. You will lead switching, contractor management and act as the HV Authorised Person, driving maintenance excellence and asset renewal.

Qualifications

• Time-served Electrical Engineer via apprenticeship or technical college route.
• HNC/HND in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• Extensive experience operating and maintaining 11kV HV and LV systems.
• Current HV Authorised Person certification.
• Strong fault-finding experience across HV and LV distribution systems.
• Experience managing electrical maintenance programmes and budgets.
• Experience delivering asset replacement, refurbishment or small works projects.
• Good understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage an electrical asset portfolio valued at approximately £8m.
• Develop and maintain robust planned preventative maintenance (PPM) strategies.
• Deliver an annual maintenance budget of approximately £300k.
• Lead fault-finding investigations and restoration activities following asset failures.
• Develop and implement asset lifecycle replacement plans.
• Deliver small works replacement and improvement projects valued at circa £300k annually.
• Act as the HV Authorised Person, preparing and issuing safety documentation and overseeing switching activities.
• Support the successful delivery of major HV and LV capital projects across the Port.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, safety and operational performance.
• Manage and supervise specialist contractors to ensure safe and effective delivery of works.
