Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking an experienced HV Construction Manager for the Brocastle Interim Substation project in South Wales. You will lead HV/EHV construction on site, ensuring safety, quality and alignment with National Grid requirements.

With SR163 authorisation, you will oversee electrical works, manage RAMS/ITPs, coordinate contractors and support testing and commissioning as the project progresses at Brocastle.

Qualifications

• Current National Grid SR163 Principal Contractor Site Manager authorisation is essential.
• Strong experience managing HV/EHV construction activities on complex infrastructure projects.
• Experience on National Grid projects, substations or transmission infrastructure.
• Strong electrical background with HV plant, transformers, switchgear and protection and control systems.
• Experience managing RAMS, ITPs, inspections and quality assurance activities.
• Experience supporting electrical testing and commissioning activities.
• Strong understanding of Permit to Work procedures within electrical and substation environments.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams and project plans.
• SMSTS certification and CSCS Managerial card (or ability to renew).
• Degree/HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver HV/EHV construction activities safely and to project specs on site.
• Oversee electrical works including HV plant, switchgear and protection systems.
• Coordinate contractors and site teams across multiple work packages.
• Review RAMS, ITPs, inspections and site records; ensure QA compliance.
• Support testing and commissioning activities with project team.
