Job summary

Advance Training & Recruitment Services is recruiting a Health, Safety, Security and Wellbeing Manager for the Havant Thicket Reservoir Project. You will lead HSSW strategy, drive a safety culture, and ensure robust assurance across the supply chain.

Reporting to the Project Delivery Director, you will steer risk management, incident investigations, and wellbeing initiatives across a major infrastructure programme, working with principal contractors and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in a senior HSSW leadership role.
• Proven delivery on major infrastructure, construction, utilities or complex capital programmes.
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation including CDM and HSG65.
• Experience delivering contractor assurance, performance management, auditing and governance.
• Strong risk management, incident investigation and continuous improvement experience.
• Excellent stakeholder management and ability to influence senior leaders and contractor organisations.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible, values-led HSSW leadership across the project and make HSSW a core delivery priority.
• Develop and implement the project HSSW strategy, policies, procedures and management systems.
• Lead the development and improvement of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System in line with regulations.
• Establish and maintain a robust contractor assurance regime across principal contractors and supply chain.
• Hold contractors to account through metrics, reviews and governance forums.
• Lead audits, inspections, assurance activities and contractor performance reviews.
• Develop and monitor HSSW indicators to identify trends and drive early intervention.
• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and promote best practice across the programme.
• Embed risk management processes, including risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Oversee incident investigations and root-cause analysis for lessons learned.
• Provide independent HSSW assurance to governance forums and leadership.
• Drive continual improvement through corrective and preventative actions.
• Champion workforce wellbeing including mental health and fatigue management.
• Engage with regulators, emergency services, authorities and stakeholders.
• Coordinate security strategies to protect people and assets.
• Promote learning, openness and accountability across the programme.
