Job summary

Impact Recruitment Services is seeking a Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality Manager to lead the HSEQ function at a Leicester recycling and waste management site. You will drive health, safety, environmental and quality compliance and partner with the Operational Management Team to uphold high standards.

The role requires senior HSEQ experience in a busy operation, NVQ4/OHS and an IEMA Environmental Management certificate, with strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.

Qualifications

• Senior HSEQ/Health & Safety role in a busy operation.
• Experience in waste/recycling or similar industry preferred.
• NVQ Level 4 in Occupational Health & Safety Practice or equivalent.
• IEMA Associate Certificate in Environmental Management.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for HSEQ across the site, acting as the primary point of contact for health, safety, environmental and quality matters.
• Monitor site operations to ensure compliance with environmental permits, company procedures and relevant legislation.
• Carry out regular site inspections, identify areas for improvement and provide clear reports and recommendations.
• Investigate and report on accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
• Manage and maintain ISO systems, documentation and associated processes.
• Prepare for and support internal and external audits, ensuring actions are followed through to completion.
• Lead HSEQ meetings and committees, monitoring actions and driving continuous improvement.
• Coordinate HSEQ training, maintain training matrices and deliver internal health and safety training where required.
• Work closely with operational teams to promote a positive health and safety culture and challenge unsafe behaviours.
• Liaise with regulators, enforcement agencies, suppliers and external stakeholders on HSEQ matters.
• Support the development and performance of first-line management and direct reports.
• Produce regular HSEQ reports and provide clear updates to the Operational Management Team.
