Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to lead HS&W across a North-focused Power Transmission and Distribution portfolio. The role includes weekly travel to sites such as Tyne & Wear, Middlesbrough, Harrogate, Leeds and Manchester, with a hybrid mix of site work, regional travel and home working.

A company car is provided and travel expenses are reimbursed. You will mentor a team of HS&W Advisors, deliver expert guidance, and drive a proactive safety culture

Qualifications

• Relevant H&S qualifications with on-site experience.
• Strong understanding of UK Health and Safety regulations.
• Ability to mentor and develop a HS&W team.

Responsibilities

• Implement Zero Harm strategy with visible leadership.
• Provide expert HS&W technical advice to project teams.
• Engage with customers and supply chain to promote zero harm.
• Agree local risk-based SLAs for each project and review quarterly.
• Conduct regular site inspections and produce formal HS&W reports.
• Investigate accidents and near-misses per standards.
• Support bids with HS&W responses for future projects.
• Collaborate with design and engineering to reduce HS&W risk.
• Mentor other HS&W colleagues and share best practices.
