Senior HR Officer
Main Purpose of the Job
Supports the implementation and management of the HR strategy through staff and payroll administration in compliance with employment law, provides administrative support for employees, and manages recruitment processes. Collaborates with business partners across operations and support functions, actively participating in and coaching on complex HR issues. Promotes a culture of continuous improvement to increase employee engagement, retention, and morale, aiming to be an employer of choice with diverse and inclusive policies that support the local community.
Main Responsibilities
- Serve as the main point of contact for the HR Manager, ensuring key deliverables are reported and met.
- Manage assigned areas and projects, providing accurate and timely information.
- Coach and mentor team members, supporting cross-functional training and sharing best practices.
- Drive cultural change and identify continuous improvement opportunities across the business.
- Support operational needs by maintaining accurate headcount data according to RTO and budget requirements.
- Manage absence, including short-term and long-term, supporting employees and conducting regular reviews.
- Provide cover for the HR Manager and support the HR team as needed.
- Lead key HR projects aligned with departmental and business strategies.
- Investigate initiatives to reduce absence, working with occupational health.
- Monitor trends in headcount, turnover, and absence across areas.
- Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Review and update HR policies to enhance efficiency and align with business needs.
- Stay updated on employment law and continually upskill through external resources.
- Support HRIS data entry and maintain data integrity.
- Report deviations from standards and implement corrective actions.
- Achieve operational KPIs through proactive actions.
- Ensure compliance with union agreements and employment law, supporting the plant team.
- Assist in the annual performance review process.
- Support site communication initiatives.
- Manage payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GDPR regulations.
- Prepare HR reports and personal documents such as contracts, termination letters, and leaver forms.
- Coordinate recruitment efforts with department managers.
- Support learning and development activities aligned with the L&D strategy, working with the Training team.
- Promote health, safety, and environmental standards across the site.
- Lead by example, upholding the company's code of conduct.
- Participate in operational meetings and CSR activities.
- Enhance HR communication within the business area.
- Facilitate business surveys, analyze results, and support improvement initiatives.
- Support Kaizen activities where applicable.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience in HR, preferably within the automotive production sector.
- CIPD Level 7 qualification or higher.
- Intermediate Excel skills, capable of handling large data sets and reporting.
- Experience leading change and enforcing HR best practices in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
- Proven track record managing complex ER cases and mentoring team leads.
- Experience in monitoring and improving absence metrics.
- Knowledge of HR KPIs and continuous improvement activities.
- Advanced skills in MS Office applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
