Job summary

Boston Borough Council is seeking a proactive Senior Housing Standards Officer to lead the Housing Standards Team and help ensure safe, compliant housing across the Borough within the SELCP partnership.

You will manage a Boston-based team, carry out risk-based inspections, regulate HMOs, and support enforcement actions while collaborating with partner councils.

This shared role supports the S113 agreement and offers the chance to make a real difference in local communities.

Qualifications

• Experience working within housing or a related field.
• Experience of people management.
• Familiarity with serving statutory notices and enforcement activity.
• Professional, calm and positive approach.
• Balance empathy with objectivity.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Strong organisational, written and IT skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team.
• Desire to learn, develop and build expertise.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day line management of the Boston-based team and guidance on housing work and Partnership processes.
• Conduct risk-based property inspections and identify housing hazards per HHSRS.
• Investigate and regulate HMOs, working with landlords and managing agents to achieve compliance.
• Process HMO licence applications.
• Undertake Immigration and Homes for Ukraine accommodation inspections.
• Bring empty properties back into use across the Borough.
• Gather evidence and prepare documentation to support enforcement action.
• Prepare professional evidence bundles for court proceedings and legal action.
