Job summary

Sefton Council is seeking a senior Housing Standards professional to support the Housing Standards Team Manager in delivering enforcement and licensing services. You will provide expert technical advice, guide colleagues on complex cases, and lead enforcement activity including potential legal proceedings.

You will work closely with residents, landlords and partner agencies, offering professionalism, judgement and empathy to achieve positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in housing standards, enforcement and regulation.
• Deep knowledge of housing legislation and licensing.
• Ability to lead on complex cases and navigate legal processes.
• Mentor colleagues with a supportive, collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the Housing Practitioners & Compliance Officers team.
• Provide expert technical advice and guide colleagues on complex cases.
• Take a lead role in enforcement activities, including legal proceedings when required.
• Work with residents, landlords and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
