Job summary

Somerset Council in Taunton, England, is seeking a Senior Prevention, Tenancy and Support Officer to lead homelessness prevention and housing support services within the Housing Options team. You will provide expert guidance on complex cases, drive improvements, and support staff development while ensuring compliance with legislation.

You will help manage complaints, mentor colleagues, and contribute to service planning and partnership work across Somerset.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of homelessness legislation and welfare benefits.
• Experience managing complex housing cases and applying housing legislation.
• Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead on investigation and resolution of Stage 1 complaints with timely, high-quality responses.
• Identify lessons learned from complaints and case reviews to drive service improvements.
• Provide expert advice on complex and high-risk housing cases.
• Conduct case audits and quality assurance to ensure compliance with legislation and council procedures.
• Coach and mentor Prevention, Tenancy and Support Officers and Triage Officers.
• Assist with induction, training and upskilling of team members.
• Depose for the Service Manager at meetings and partnership forums.
• Support service delivery through workload oversight, planning and performance improvement.
