Job summary

Wokingham Borough Council is seeking an experienced Housing Compliance Manager to lead our compliance services, ensuring housing stock meets regulatory standards and residents live in safe, well-maintained homes.

You will oversee programmes, manage contractors, lead audits and inspections, and drive continuous improvement while developing a high-performing team.

This is a strategic leadership role with a strong focus on resident safety and excellent housing services in the Wokingham area.

Qualifications

• Has substantial experience in housing compliance, asset management or a related field.
• Understands housing legislation, regulatory requirements and best practice.
• Can confidently manage contracts, budgets, risk and performance.
• Has strong leadership skills and a track record of developing successful teams.
• Is passionate about resident safety, customer service and delivering positive outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of housing compliance programmes ensuring statutory landlord obligations are met.
• Maintain strategic oversight of compliance risks across the housing portfolio, ensuring remedial actions arising from inspections.
• Ensure resident health, safety and wellbeing remain central to all compliance activities by supporting effective engagement and communication on compliance works.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, Approved Codes of Practice and regulatory requirements by leading internal and external audits and inspections.
