Job summary

Avery Healthcare Group in Braintree is seeking a Head Housekeeper to oversee the housekeeping and laundry service across the care home, supporting hospitality and delivering a high-quality, compassionate care environment for residents.

You will lead the housekeeping team, manage stock and supplies, monitor standards, and implement health and safety procedures. DBS and right to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning and managing laundry in a public setting.
• Knowledge of health and safety, particularly moving and handling techniques, fire safety, and COSHH assessments.
• Demonstrate compassion and commitment to the delivery of high-quality housekeeping/laundry service to residents.
• Demonstrate the ability to lead, supervise and develop teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the housekeeping and laundry cleaning service in support of the hospitality services function.
• Carry out all cleaning duties as per the housekeeping job description.
• Prepare orders for Home Manager approval for cleaning materials with approved suppliers while maintaining stock levels and budget.
• Monitor standards of work of the housekeeping and laundry team to maintain high cleanliness standards.
• Supervise and direct the work of the housekeeping team, providing instruction to new staff on cleaning tasks and materials.
