Job summary

Avery Healthcare is seeking a warm, enthusiastic Head Housekeeper for Braintree Mews Care Home. You will oversee the housekeeping and laundry services to ensure a high‑quality care environment for residents, leading a small team and working within budget and safety guidelines.

The role requires experience in cleaning and managing laundry, strong health and safety knowledge, and proven leadership abilities. DBS check will be conducted, and eligibility to work in the UK must be demonstrated.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning and managing laundry in a public setting.
• Knowledge of health and safety, including moving and handling, fire safety and COSHH assessments.
• Ability to lead, supervise and develop housekeeping teams.
• Commitment to delivering high-quality housekeeping/laundry service to residents.

• Carry out cleaning duties per the housekeeping description.
• Prepare orders for Home Manager approval for cleaning materials with approved suppliers within budget.
• Monitor standards and supervise/develop the housekeeping team.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your focus as Head Housekeeper will be to oversee the housekeeping and laundry cleaning service in support of the hospitality services function to ensure a high-quality and comprehensive care service is delivered to residents. Other responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out all cleaning duties as per the housekeeping job description.
• Preparing orders for Home Manager approval for all cleaning materials with approved suppliers whilst complying with procedures to maintain appropriate stock levels and control and ensuring good quality products are purchased within agreed budget limits.
• Monitoring standards of work of the housekeeping and laundry team to always maintain high cleanliness standards.
• Supervising and directing the work of the housekeeping team, providing instruction and demonstration to new staff on cleaning tasks and materials.
