Job summary

Somerset Council is seeking a Senior Technical Surveyor – Home Adaptations to lead a programme of home adaptation projects under the housing assistance policy, including Disabled Facilities Grants. You will design, procure and deliver schemes safely and to high standards while managing budgets and stakeholder expectations.

You will act as Principal Designer, support clients with disabilities, and oversee a range of projects across Somerset.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Building Regulations, planning processes and housing construction.
• CDM Regulations and Health & Safety knowledge.
• Experience as Building Surveyor or Architect.

Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver a range of home adaptation construction projects from feasibility through to completion.
• Act as Principal Designer, ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations and health and safety legislation.
• Work directly with clients with disabilities, building trust and understanding individual needs.
• Assess eligibility, practicality, and funding options for housing adaptations and financial assistance.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, and schedules of work using AutoCAD.
• Obtain, assess, and manage quotations, tenders, budgets, and contractor performance.
