Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support primary schools across Mansfield and the surrounding areas. You will lead lessons, run whole-class or small-group activities, and provide targeted interventions to raise attainment.

Opportunities range from day-to-day supply to longer placements, offering flexibility, variety across year groups, and exposure to pupils with diverse learning needs.

Qualifications

• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA in primary education.
• Experience supporting children across the primary age range.
• Confidence leading lessons, activities and small-group interventions.
• Ability to manage a classroom and maintain positive behaviour.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils and staff.
• A good understanding of the primary curriculum.
• An understanding of safeguarding and promoting pupil well-being.
• A calm, adaptable and proactive approach.
• The ability to work confidently and independently when required.
• Flexibility and reliability when working across different primary school settings.

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher, deliver planned lessons, and lead activities.
• Provide targeted intervention and support pupils 1:1 or in small groups.
• Take responsibility for a class in the absence of the class teacher.
• Create a positive learning environment with high expectations and support pupil confidence.
