Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support primary schools across Nottingham and surrounding areas. You will lead learning, support teachers and manage classrooms when required, delivering planned lessons and interventions.

Opportunities range from day-to-day supply to longer placements, offering flexibility and variety across year groups. The role requires strong behavior management, good curriculum knowledge and excellent communication with pupils

Qualifications

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA in primary education.
• Experience supporting children across the primary age range.
• Confidence leading lessons, activities and small-group interventions.
• Ability to manage a classroom and maintain positive behaviour.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Good understanding of the primary curriculum.
• Understanding safeguarding and promoting pupil well-being.
• Calm, adaptable and proactive approach.
• Ability to work independently when required.
• Flexibility and reliability across different primary school settings.

Responsibilities

• Lead planned lessons and activities.
• Support the class teacher and manage the classroom.
• Deliver targeted interventions and small-group work.
• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis as required.
• Take responsibility for a class in the absence of the teacher.
