Job summary

Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a full-time Senior Biomedical Scientist (Histology) to join the Histology Department at Southmead Hospital. The post requires HCPC registration in Biomedical Sciences and a postgraduate qualification in Cellular Pathology, with CPD evidence expected.

You will work as part of a supportive team, maintaining high standards and contributing to service delivery. The role emphasizes independence, teamwork, accurate results, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration is essential.
• Postgraduate qualification in Cellular Pathology or IBMS Fellowship or MSc.
• Evidence of CPD and ongoing training in Cellular Pathology.
• Degree in Biomedical Sciences.
• Knowledge of ISO 15189 would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Undertake independent dissection and sampling for histopathology.
• Provide core diagnostic service in Cellular Pathology (Histology) per standards.
• Participate in supervision, training and development of staff.
• Act as a positive role model and visible department leader.
• Support day-to-day workflow and delivery of key performance indicators.
