Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Biomedical Scientist to join the Cellular Pathology team. The role involves processing all specimen types, liaising across sections to provide a high quality and timely diagnostic service, and accurate data entry to support sample processing.

The successful candidate will be HCPC registered with experience in a hospital diagnostic laboratory, preferably in Cellular Pathology, and will participate in the on-call rota

Qualifications

• Registered with the HCPC as Biomedical Scientist.
• Experience in a hospital diagnostic laboratory, preferably Cellular Pathology.
• Must be a good communicator and able to work effectively as part of a large team.
• Excellent attention to detail with good manual dexterity.

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing all specimen types in the Cellular Pathology Department to support accurate and timely diagnoses.
• Liaise with staff at all levels to ensure a high quality, timely diagnostic service.
• Access and accurately enter data via Trust and departmental information systems to support sample processing.
• Contribute to a large team and participate in the Biomedical Scientist on-call rota and weekend/bank holiday rotations.
