Job summary

Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated Biomedical Scientist to join its specialist Neuropathology Laboratory, contributing to diagnostic neuropathology and muscle pathology services for the Trust and external organisations. The post holder will rotate through biopsy, autopsy histology, immunohistochemistry and enzyme histochemistry, with training provided.

Qualifications

• Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent.
• State registration with HCPC.
• Postgraduate qualification in Neuropathology or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Rotate through sections of the laboratory including biopsy/autopsy histology, immunohistochemistry and enzyme histochemistry.
• Perform tissue processing, embedding, sectioning and staining; support urgent intraoperative diagnostics.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records, comply with QA and health and safety requirements, and assist in service improvement.
