Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Principal Highways Drainage Engineer to lead the management and maintenance of the local highway drainage network, coordinating remedial works and liaising with utility partners.

The role requires office presence 3 days per week and 2 days working from home within a 37-hour week, with responsibility for SuDS design and ensuring compliance with flood risk legislation.

Qualifications

• Knowledge/experience in identifying, assessing and resolving highway drainage issues.
• Experience in designing highway drainage systems and SuDS.
• Understanding of highway and flood risk management legislation (e.g., Highways Act 1980, Flood and Water Management Act 2010).
• Experience working with stakeholders and communities.
• Experience reviewing drainage plans within development management and progressing drainage schemes.

Responsibilities

• Identify, assess and resolve highway drainage issues on the network.
• Coordinate remedial works through external partners.
• Lead design of drainage schemes and SuDS implementations.
• Liaise with utilities and water organisations on maintenance programmes.
• Support development management processes with drainage proposals.
