Job summary

SYSTRA is seeking a Senior/Principal Engineer to join our drainage team in the UK, focusing on highways and development infrastructure. You will lead drainage design, feasibility through to detailed design, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams across local and strategic networks.

You will manage projects, budgets and resources, mentor junior engineers, and engage with clients to drive successful outcomes while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated Civil Engineering experience within a consultancy environment.
• Good knowledge and experience of delivering surface/waste water drainage design and appropriate approval processes.
• Experience of drainage technical design on major and minor projects with practical application of design principles.
• Good knowledge and use of Sewers for Adoption, Sewers for Scotland and ideally DMRB, MCHW, MfS, Local Authority guides and their applications.
• Strong IT literacy with AutoCAD/Micro-drainage/Info-drainage; Civil3D knowledge is beneficial.
• Experience of project management with responsibility for financial and commercial aspects.
• Experience of highway design would be beneficial.
• Ability to mentor and supervise more junior colleagues and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage financial, technical and project delivery aspects of drainage in varied highway schemes.
• Delegate to Engineers and Technicians, and supervise junior team members.
• Lead drainage design across adoptable and non-adoptable schemes with relevant standards.
• Produce technical packages and applications for schemes.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure fully integrated designs.
• Present to clients and manage client expectations at a senior level.
• Take commercial responsibility for projects and deliver on time, cost and quality.
