Job summary

Bristol City Council's Strategic Highway Maintenance Team is seeking a Senior Technician to lead planned highway maintenance schemes across the city. You will manage projects from inception to completion, coordinating contractors and resources to deliver high standards safely.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification) or substantial technical experience relevant to highway engineering and maintenance projects.
• Experience managing and monitoring projects, budgets, programmes, and contractors.
• Solid understanding of highway maintenance practices and current industry standards.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and safe working practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently while also supporting and developing colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Lead in planning, managing, and delivering a varied programme of highway maintenance projects.
• Deliver planned highway maintenance schemes across the city from inception to completion.
• Coordinate resources, supervise complex projects, and ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently.
• Contribute to ongoing development of maintenance strategies and service improvements.
