Job summary

Bristol City Council is seeking a Senior Technician to join the Strategic Highway Maintenance Team. You will lead highway maintenance schemes, coordinate contractors, and drive progress from planning to delivery, ensuring work is safe and to a high standard.

You will use your technical knowledge and project management skills to improve Bristol's transport network, supported by a collaborative team with flexible hybrid working and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Experience managing projects, budgets, programmes and contractors.
• Knowledge of highway maintenance practices and safety legislation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and mentor colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Lead planned highway maintenance schemes across the city.
• Manage projects from inception through to completion, ensuring safety and quality.
• Supervise complex projects, coordinate resources and stakeholders.
• Contribute to maintenance strategies and service improvements across Bristol's transport network.
• Liaise with contractors and colleagues to deliver the programme on time.
