Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Senior Highway Design Engineer in Bristol to take ownership of S278/S38 schemes and help grow a private sector highways function. You will support a local client base while delivering projects nationwide.

The role offers opportunities to manage projects end-to-end, mentor junior staff and progress toward Principal and Associate levels. Salary £35,000–£45,000 with benefits.

• Senior Highway Design Engineer with 3–5 years UK consultancy experience.
• Experience in S278/S38 schemes, highways adoption and development-led design.
• Able to lead and train junior engineers and technicians.

Job DescriptionSENIOR HIGHWAY DESIGN ENGINEER Bristol £35,000 to £45,000 plus benefits Senior Highway Design Engineer looking to step up and take ownership? This Senior Highway Design Engineer role in Bristol offers responsibility for S278 and S38 schemes and the chance to help build and lead a growing highways function within a private sector consultancy. The Senior Highway Design Engineer will be Bristol based, supporting an established client base locally while delivering projects nationwide. This Senior Highway Design Engineer position suits someone who wants to grow personally, manage projects end to end and progress toward Principal and Associate level while helping to train junior staff.

• Lead S278 and S38 highway design and technical approvals
• Produce and check drawings using AutoCAD and Site 3D

• Senior Highway Design Engineer with 3 to 5 years UK consultancy experience
• Strong development led highway and adoption background
• Confident, organised and commercially aware
• Keen to take responsibility and progress into leadership
