Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a flagship highways infrastructure project. The role is site-based in the Midlands and focuses on commercial delivery on a multi-million-pound upgrade using NEC contracts.

You will lead cost control, subcontract administration, and value engineering while mentoring junior QS staff and ensuring robust commercial governance. A strong background in NEC contracts and highway works is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering; MRICS desirable.
• Senior QS/Lead QS experience on major UK civil engineering/infrastructure schemes (highways).
• NEC3/NEC4 contracts knowledge (Options A, B, C).
• Knowledge of SHW and MMHW measurement methods.
• Proficient with commercial software (CEMAR, Causeway, COINS) and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Act as commercial lead for designated project sections under NEC3/NEC4 ECC Option C Target Cost.
• Proactively manage EWNs, risk reduction meetings, and pricing/agreements of Compensation Events.
• Prepare, present and analyze monthly Cost Value Reconcililiations (CVRs), forecasts and Earned Value Management metrics.
• Lead procurement and administration of subcontract packages (NEC ECS) across earthworks, structures, pavement and traffic management.
• Monitor Defined Cost and Disallowed Cost, ensuring recovery and adherence to pain/gain mechanisms.
• Manage interfaces with statutory undertakers, local authorities and other stakeholders.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and drive carbon/cost reduction initiatives.
• Provide mentorship to Assistant and Project Quantity Surveyors.
