Job summary

RGB Recruitment partners with a growing civil engineering consultancy to recruit a Senior Highway Technician/Engineer. The role leads design and delivery of highway infrastructure across residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.

You will coordinate S278 schemes, oversee highway access design, and guide junior engineers while liaising with clients and authorities to drive projects from planning through construction.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proven highway design experience in consultancy or local authority.
• Knowledge of DMRB, Manual for Streets and local guidance.
• Experience delivering S278 schemes and related infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Causeway PDS for alignment and geometry design.
• Experience in access, pavement, junction and roundabout design.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and civil design software.
• Strong planning and approval process understanding.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of highway projects for residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use developments.
• Prepare and oversee Section 278 highway design packages to local authority standards.
• Coordinate highway access design to support planning applications.
• Carry out highway alignment design using Causeway PDS.
• Produce detailed carriageway and pavements designs.
• Design and review junctions, signals, roundabouts, and improvements.
• Coordinate drainage, utilities and street lighting within highway design.
• Manage technical project delivery, ensuring quality, programme and budget targets.
• Liaise with authorities, clients and stakeholders; mentor junior staff.
