Job summary

Gaskells (North West) Ltd is seeking a skilled HGV Fitter to join our Contract Maintenance team. You will service, diagnose and repair heavy goods vehicles across customer sites, ensuring roadworthiness and DVSA compliance.

You will work to SLAs, maintain records and support breakdowns. The role requires time-served qualification, 23 years' experience and strong fault-finding abilities with a positive, reliable attitude.

Qualifications

• Qualified HGV Technician (Time Served, IRTEC or City & Guilds).
• Minimum 23 years' experience in a similar HGV maintenance role.
• Experience working to SLAs and maintaining high standards.
• Able to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Positive, flexible and reliable attitude.

Responsibilities

• Service, inspect and repair HGVs under maintenance contracts.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Carry out PMIs, pre-MOT inspections and defect rectification.
• Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately and on time.
• Deliver reactive maintenance and breakdown support across customer sites.
• Ensure all work meets DVSA regulations and Operator Licence standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Care for company tools, equipment and customer vehicles.
