Qualifications

  • Qualified HGV Technician (Time Served, IRTEC or City & Guilds).
  • Minimum 23 years' experience in a similar HGV maintenance role.
  • Experience working to SLAs and maintaining high standards.
  • Able to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Positive, flexible and reliable attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Service, inspect and repair HGVs under maintenance contracts.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
  • Carry out PMIs, pre-MOT inspections and defect rectification.
  • Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately and on time.
  • Deliver reactive maintenance and breakdown support across customer sites.
  • Ensure all work meets DVSA regulations and Operator Licence standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
  • Care for company tools, equipment and customer vehicles.

Gaskells (North West) Ltd is looking for a skilled and motivated HGV Fitter to join our Contract Maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV Technician who enjoys working across a variety of customer sites, delivering high-quality maintenance and repairs while ensuring vehicles remain safe, compliant and roadworthy.

The Role

As an HGV Fitter, you will be responsible for carrying out scheduled servicing, inspections, diagnostics and repairs on customer heavy goods vehicles under our third-party maintenance contracts. You'll work to agreed service level agreements (SLAs) while maintaining DVSA and Operator Licence compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service, inspect and repair HGVs under maintenance contracts.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
  • Carry out Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs), pre-MOT inspections and defect rectification.
  • Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately and on time.
  • Deliver reactive maintenance and breakdown support across customer sites when required.
  • Ensure all work meets DVSA regulations and Operator Licence standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.

About YouEssential
