Job summary

Gaskells (North West) Ltd is seeking an experienced HGV Fitter to join our Contract Maintenance team. You will carry out servicing, inspections and repairs on customer heavy goods vehicles across multiple sites, aiming to keep vehicles safe, compliant and roadworthy.

Essentially you should be a qualified HGV Technician with time-served experience, strong fault-finding and the ability to work independently under SLAs. DVSA and Operator Licence standards knowledge is aplus.

Qualifications

• Qualified HGV Technician (Time Served, IRTEC or City & Guilds).
• Minimum 23 years' experience in a similar HGV maintenance role.
• Experience working to SLAs and maintaining high standards.

Responsibilities

• Service, inspect and repair HGVs under maintenance contracts.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Carry out PMIs, pre-MOT inspections and defect rectification.
• Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately and on time.
• Deliver reactive maintenance and breakdown support across customer sites when required.
• Ensure all work meets DVSA regulations and Operator Licence standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Care for company tools, equipment and customer vehicles.
