Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in London is seeking a dedicated mental health support worker to advocate for service users and provide emotional support. The role involves collaborating with healthcare professionals, supporting community inclusion, and running health clinics. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  1. Advocating for service users' needs and rights within Trust policy
  2. Providing emotional support to individuals and their families.
  3. Attending CPA reviews, ward rounds, home visits, working alongside qualified staff, according to care plans. Providing practical support such as helping with household tasks, personal care, and paperwork like risk assessments. Supporting and monitoring healthcare needs, including administering medication and temperature checks.
  4. Supporting individuals to pursue hobbies, interests, learn new skills, or gain employment. Teaching life skills such as budgeting and paying bills. Assisting with daily tasks like meal preparation, shopping, and maintaining housing tenancy. Helping access community facilities and encouraging inclusion in community groups. Adapting communication to individual needs, e.g., sounds, tones, body language.
  5. Collaborating with other professionals, such as doctors and therapists, to ensure consistent support. Analyzing individual needs and developing focused support plans. Acting as a role model and companion, discovering shared interests like hobbies and outings.
  6. Running a physical health clinic, taking blood samples, analyzing results using Pochi, and communicating concerns to doctors or other healthcare professionals.

  • At least 2 years experience in mental health settings
  • Experience working in community mental health settings
Desirable criteria
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously
  • Competent IT skills
  • Assessment skills

  • Experience in physical wellbeing and Phlebotomy skills
