Job summary

Devon Partnership NHS Trust, based at Wonford House in Exeter, seeks a Health, Safety and Security Deputy to lead Trust-wide workstreams and deputise for the Lead.

You will deliver risk-based audits, investigations into incidents, and provide authoritative advice, developing policies and training materials.

A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is required; travel between Trust sites is expected, with robust reporting to senior governance groups.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of health and safety legislation and risk assessment.
• Experience in audits, investigations and incident reviews.
• Ability to develop policies, procedures and training materials.
• Evidence of continuing professional development in health, safety or security.

Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering risk-based audits, inspections and compliance monitoring across services.
• Leading designated investigations into accidents, near misses, violence, aggression, security incidents and reported crimes.
• Analysing incident, audit, risk and performance information to identify themes, gaps and overdue actions.
• Producing clear reports, dashboards, action plans and recommendations for senior managers and governance groups.
• Providing specialist advice and practical guidance to staff and managers at all levels.
• Developing and reviewing policies, procedures, audit tools, training materials and improvement resources.
• Designing and delivering specialist training, briefings and exercises, including emergency preparedness and security activity.
• Monitoring corrective actions, evaluating evidence of completion and escalating significant or regulatory risks appropriately.
• Working with internal teams and, where authorised, regulators, emergency services, contractors and partner organisations.
