Job summary

General Dynamics Mission Systems in the UK is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to design, develop and qualify advanced electronic hardware for safety-critical mission computing systems. You will own hardware activities from concept to production and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

The role offers hybrid working (typically 3 days in the office) and a salary between £45,600 and £60,000 per year, plus our flexible benefits package.

Qualifications

• Degree in electronic engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience designing and developing electronic hardware.
• Experience with schematic capture, component selection, board-level design and hardware debugging.
• Knowledge of high-speed digital design and FPGA integration.
• Experience through verification, qualification and system integration.
• Ability to analyze technical problems and develop robust solutions.
• Experience contributing to technical and design reviews.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
• Motivation, integrity and professionalism; flexibility in fast-paced environments.
• Experience with AI/ML models is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced electronic hardware from concept to production.
• Produce and review schematics, select components and prepare design docs.
• Support PCB development, prototype bring-up and integration.
• Lead hardware verification, qualification and troubleshooting activities.
• Perform technical analysis to ensure performance, reliability and environmental compliance.
• Participate in design reviews and communicate decisions clearly.
• Collaborate with systems, firmware, FPGA, software, mechanical and manufacturing teams.
• Provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
