Job summary

General Dynamics UK is seeking a Senior Hardware Systems Engineer to contribute to C4I hardware design across defence programmes. The role spans requirements capture, development, testing and in-service support, interfacing with MoD, customer R&D and internal R&D teams.

You will shape hardware aspects of system solutions, including communications systems and networking electronics, across a multi-disciplinary team. Strong systems engineering and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Broad competence in systems engineering.
• Experience resolving design challenges.
• Understanding of military hardware, particularly networking electronics.
• Knowledge of open and military standards.
• Understanding climatic and induced environments.
• Experience engaging Safety, Security and ILS to deliver complete system solutions.
• Structured design methods.
• Strong teamwork and cross-discipline collaboration.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.

Responsibilities

• Supporting requirements elicitation, development and interface definition.
• Contributing to design analysis and trade studies.
• Specifying sub-systems, components and cabling.
• Applying open and military standards to hardware design.
• Supporting system integration and test activities.
• Collaborating with safety, security and ILS teams for coherent solutions.
• Producing well-structured technical documentation.
