Job summary

General Dynamics UK is seeking a Senior Hardware Systems Engineer to shape hardware aspects of C4I solutions for defence programmes. You will work within a multidisciplinary team across the full engineering lifecycle from requirements to in-service support.

The role emphasizes hardware design, including communications systems, military computers and networking electronics, with a focus on open and military standards and lifecycle activities. Hybrid on-site work is expected.

Qualifications

• Broad systems engineering capability.
• Experience resolving design challenges.
• Understanding of military hardware, particularly networking electronics.
• Knowledge and application of open and military standards.
• Understanding of climatic and induced environments.
• Experience engaging Safety, Security and ILS teams.

Responsibilities

• Support requirements elicitation, development and interface definition.
• Contribute to design analysis including functional and physical analysis.
• Support specification of sub-systems, components and cabling.
• Apply open and military standards to hardware design and development.
• Support system integration and test activities.
• Collaborate with safety, security and ILS teams to deliver a coherent system solution.
• Produce structured technical documentation on schedule.
• Present at progress reviews and engage with stakeholders.
