Job summary
Hitachi Energy in Glasgow seeks a Senior Protection Engineer to design and deliver high-quality protection engineering solutions for renewable projects. You will collaborate with customers, project managers, and the Hitachi team to develop protection designs that meet specifications, stay within budget, and comply with health and safety standards.
You will lead technical discussions, produce detailed designs using the latest software, and drive projects through to delivery while maintaining
Qualifications
- Experience in electrical engineering within grid automation.
- Strong understanding of protection principles and relay operation.
- Knowledge of IEC61850 standards and engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Prepare functional design specifications and project scope documents.
- Develop protection designs for production and manufacturing.
- Select protection products, configure IEDs, and apply IEC61850 engineering.
- Develop new protection solutions from concept to delivery.
- Handle type registration and product approvals with engineering docs.
- Provide technical support during pre-FAT and FAT stages.
- Assist in preparing proposals and engineering project presentations.
- Support project management with timely claims and change handling.
