Job summary

Hitachi Energy UK Limited is seeking a Senior Protection Engineer to design and deliver protection solutions for renewable energy projects. You will develop functional design specifications, perform protection design for production and manufacturing, and configure IEDs to IEC61850 standards while managing project scope and timelines.

You will collaborate with customers, project managers, and the wider Hitachi team, applying health and safety standards and maintaining clear communication

Qualifications

• Proven years within the electrical engineering sector, particularly the grid automation sector.
• Strong foundation in transmission within the energy sector.
• Membership (or working towards membership) of a relevant professional body, e.g. CEng.
• Strong design capability and experience in the Power Systems discipline.
• Project coordination and ability to work well within a team.
• Fluent in spoken and written English with good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare functional design specifications and project scope documents.
• Prepare protection designs for production and manufacturing.
• Protection product selection, IED configurations, and protection IEC61850 engineering.
• Develop new protection solutions covering the full development cycle (concept to delivery).
• Type registration and product approval combining engineering and documentation.
• Provide technical support during pre-FAT and FAT stages, including installation and commissioning.
• Assist in preparing proposals with BOMs and estimated engineering hours.
