Job summary

Hitachi Energy UK Limited is seeking a Senior Protection Engineer to design and deliver high-quality protection engineering solutions for the renewable energy sector. You’ll work with customers, project managers and the Hitachi team to manage protection design projects of varying complexity, using the latest software and IEC61850 standards.

You will be involved from concept through delivery, with emphasis on safety, quality and collaboration in a dynamic grid automation environment.

Qualifications

Proven years in electrical engineering, with grid automation focus.
Strong background in transmission systems in the energy sector.
HND or degree in Electrical Engineering.
Professional body membership (or in progress) such as CEng.
Strong design capability in Power Systems.
Experience coordinating projects within teams.
Fluent English with good communication skills.

Responsibilities

Prepare functional design specifications and project scope documents.
Prepare protection designs for production and manufacturing.
Protection product selection, IED configurations, IEC61850 engineering.
Develop protection solutions from concept design to delivery.
Type registration and product approval combining engineering and documentation.
Provide technical support during pre-FAT and FAT; oversee installation/commissioning.
Assist in preparing proposals and BOMs, estimates of engineering hours.
Support project management with scope changes, cost/time/risk impacts.
