Wheely in London is seeking a Mid/Senior Backend Engineer to help scale our premium transportation platform. You’ll write high-quality Go services, design microservices, and collaborate with product, design, and data science teams to translate requirements into robust systems.

Join a Go-first shop running on AWS and Kubernetes, with a culture of TDD, DDD, and CI/CD. The role offers a hybrid setup: four days in West London and one remote day, plus a competitive £90k–£120k salary and stock options.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building scalable backend services (5+ years for seniors).
• Proficient in Go; other languages accepted if strong.
• Relational and NoSQL databases experience; message brokers like RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• At least 1 year hands-on experience with mapping/geospatial data, map-matching, routing.

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, performant code primarily in Go.
• Implement new microservices while migrating away from legacy services.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and data scientists to turn requirements into designs.
• Ensure systems stay responsive under heavy load, optimising latency and reliability.
