Job summary

Wheely, redefining premium transportation, seeks a Mid/Senior Backend Engineer for its West London team. You’ll write high-quality Go code, build new microservices, and migrate legacy systems while collaborating with product, design and data science teams to deliver scalable solutions.

The role requires 3+ years (5+ for seniors) of backend experience, strong database and messaging skills, and English at B2 level or higher.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building and maintaining scalable backend services.
• Go proficiency or strong programming in another language with Go interview option.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Experience with message brokers (RabbitMQ or Kafka).
• Upper-Intermediate English (B2) or higher.

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, performant code primarily in Go.
• Implement new microservices and migrate away from legacy systems.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and data scientists to turn requirements into designs.
• Ensure system performance under heavy load with emphasis on latency and reliability.
