Wheely is seeking a mid/senior Backend Engineer in West London to strengthen our Mapping team. You will write clean Go code, build new microservices, and collaborate with product, design and data science to translate complex requirements into scalable systems.

The role focuses on latency, throughput, and reliability in a fast-growing, cloud-native environment. You should have 3+ years building backend services; Go is preferred, but other languages are welcome.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building scalable backend services.
• Go is used; interview in strongest language if not.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and message brokers.

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality Go code for microservices.
• Migrate away from legacy services while adding new ones.
• Collaborate with product, design and data science teams to turn requirements into designs.
• Ensure system responsiveness under heavy load with low latency and high reliability.
